SUMMARY:Driftless Terroir at The Harris Family Farm
DESCRIPTION:Terroir (tehr-WAHR) is a French term that means “sense of place”—the unique qualities that geography\, climate\, soil\, and culture impart to the food we grow and eat. Here in Wisconsin’s Driftless Area\, that sense of place is unmistakable\, and at The Book Kitchen\, we love celebrating it. \nThis experience is unlike any of our other classes. We’ll begin at the Harris Farm\, where you’ll walk the fields\, taste what is growing\, breathe in the landscape\, and discover firsthand what makes the Driftless region so distinctive. \nFrom there\, we’ll return to The Book Kitchen to enjoy a thoughtfully prepared meal featuring ingredients sourced exclusively from the Harris Farm. Around the table\, we’ll reflect on the day’s experience\, share stories\, and explore how the land\, the people\, and the harvest come together to define the true terroir of the Driftless Area. \nWhat to Expect\n4:00–5:15 PM | Farm Tour at Harris Farm\n338 N. Bend St.\, Mineral Point\, WI \nWe’ll begin with a guided walk through Harris Farm\, where you’ll experience the sights\, scents\, and flavors of the Driftless region firsthand. Please dress appropriately for the weather\, as we’ll be outdoors. The tour will take place rain or shine. In the event of severe weather\, we’ll gather at The Book Kitchen instead. \n5:30–7:30 PM | Dinner at The Book Kitchen\n151 High St.\, Mineral Point\, WI \nAfter our time at the farm\, we’ll return to The Book Kitchen to enjoy a seasonal dinner inspired by the ingredients and terroir of the Driftless Area.
