The Blue Zones Kitchen: Exploring the Food and Habits of Longevity

April 1, 2027 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
$65.00

What can the world’s longest-lived people teach us about the way we eat, cook, and live?

Join The Book Kitchen for a discussion and tasting inspired by The Blue Zones Kitchen, the National Geographic and New York Times bestselling cookbook by Dan Buettner. The book explores five regions around the world where people have historically experienced exceptionally long, healthy lives: Okinawa, Japan; Sardinia, Italy; the Nicoya Peninsula in Costa Rica; Ikaria, Greece; and Loma Linda, California.

The term Blue Zones originated when researchers circled these regions in blue ink on a map. What began as a way to identify areas of exceptional longevity became a global conversation about the habits, communities, and food traditions that help people thrive.

We’ll begin with a discussion of what these places have in common, how their cultures and cuisines differ, and the distinctive habits associated with longevity in each region. Along the way, we’ll sample dishes inspired by the cookbook, exploring the ingredients, flavors, and cooking traditions that make each place unique.

From beans and whole grains to garden vegetables, herbs, and sweet potatoes, discover how everyday foods can tell a much bigger story about health, culture, and the pleasures of gathering around the table.

Come curious, bring your appetite, and leave with new ideas for bringing a little Blue Zone inspiration into your own kitchen.
