Exploring Food Through Poetry

“Food and poetry are two of life’s essential ingredients,” writes author Nicole Gulotta in Eat This Poem—a literary feast that blends verse and recipes in celebration of nourishment and creativity. Inspired by her work, we’re bringing the concept to life with poet Christina Kubasta, who will guide us through engaging writing exercises as we savor delicious dishes prepared by The Book Kitchen.
Christina will fold several writing exercises into the session, asking you to foreground your senses to craft imagery (essential for poetry!) that pair with our work in the kitchen. We’ll also draw on a favorite food memory to write a recipe poem, melding the ways taste, memory, and all the associations of hearth & home stay with us. Bring a notebook for writing, your creativity, and spirit of adventure.
If you would like to reserve a copy of Eat This Poem from Republic of Letters, check the box when registering and we will have it ready for you to purchase during the event!
