Cake Science: How to Bake a Better Cake

May 3, 2026 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
$125.00 – $155.00

Science and baking go hand-in-hand, so we’ve invited Chef Alyssa Janco to The Book Kitchen to explore the “why” behind every step and ingredient in a cake recipe through a combination of lecture and demonstration. Afterward, you’ll get to put your knowledge to the test by making your own cake from start to finish.

Following a brief recess, cleanup, and snack, we’ll turn our attention to learning about ermine-style buttercream, an old-fashioned recipe known as “boiled milk frosting.” You’ll watch a demo, then frost your own cake.

At the end of class, you’ll take home a beautifully baked and frosted cake, along with the know-how to recreate these techniques in your own kitchen.

Spaces are limited to ensure hands-on experience for every student. Come ready to learn, bake, and indulge!
